The fact that she knowingly brought more children into that household is ridiculous. Don't even get me started on ANY aid or state assistance she may even THINK of using. I hope to GOD that Oprah, etc does NOT have her on her show like I heard was a possibility earlier today. I do NOT want this woman to make ANY money for having had these kids. Thanks for sharing this information. I really like your way of expressing the opinions and sharing the information. It is good to move as chance bring new things in life, paves the way for advancement, etc. But it is well known to everyone that moving to new location with bulk of goods is not an easy task to move or shift from one place to other place because I have experienced about that and I face the problem like that. There I go to village near to my city faced that problem there. ccsa\\MCPD\\comptia security+\\sscp\\ccna security\\PMI Certification\\ccvp\\Vmware Certification\\

when my kid was small he had a toddler nap mat, he loved carrying it everywhere, some kids like some things when they are small, this helps to build their mind.

Call me old-fashioned, but I believe the ideal situation for raising children is in a 2-parent home.   Parents need to take their children's needs into account to stay focused on doing the right thing.

It is unfortunate that so many marriages don't make it - I am included in that group.  But, to go out of your way to have multiple children when you are unmarried, is ... wrong.  It is selfish.

There are background checks including financial standards when a person seeks to adopt a child.   Potential surrogate mothers need to comply with certain requirements.  Why not institute similar screening for  those seeking fertility treatment?

If nurturing children had been Nadya Suleman's main motivation she would have stopped when her marriage ended.  Her six children aged 2 - 7 need their mommy's attention.   With 8 more all in diapers at the same time she will not have any time, much less energy, to devote to her six older children.

Nadya probably would have made a great volunteer in her children's classrooms.  She probably would have had a really great time being a Girl Scout leader or a Den Mother.  She could have taken in foster children or become a Big Sister.

Her mother wishes Nadya had surrounded herself with children by  becoming a kindergarten teacher.  Nadya could have nurtured many more children following that route.  Unfortunately it sounds like Ms. Suleman is book smart but has no common sense.

Having 14 children, whew! Sounds like she has some support right now, since her Mom was watching the six kids, while she delivered her other 8. But what about as life progresses?  A report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture said at the lowest income level it takes about $148,000 to raise a child through the age of 17. (Here's the link, http://usgovinfo.about.com/b/2008/03/28/the-cost-to-raise-a-child-today.htm) So for 14 kids, that's over 2 million dollars... hard to imagine that this mom will not need some type of public assistance. That's where I think a lot of people will take issue with the number of children, when and if their tax dollars are needed.

The news today said the mom has hired TWO publicists and is shopping her story around.  I just don't think this is right.  However, she probably WILL get the $2mil you said she needs!

Clearly, this is an issue that raises a lot of emotion on both sides. I understand that it's nobody's business how many children someone else has. EXCEPT - if I as a taxpayer am being asked to help pay for their care. And I don't know if this is the case here, but if this woman is on public assistance, I don't think she should have received continued fertility treatments. She has every right to have children, and taxpayers have every right not to pay for that. And from what her mother says, it sounds to me like this woman has some issues that perhaps should have been identified and dealt with earlier. You have to wonder about the ethics or even the abilities of a doctor who would facilitate that.

I find it appalling that ANYONE would think they have the right to tell a woman how many children she should have. Or, how much money she needs to have in her bank account. This ADULT WOMAN chose to have that many children.

Was it irresponsible? Yes. Do I think it was a good idea? No.

Maybe instead of Oprah having this women on her show she should devote a whole episode about people who want to decided how many children other people should have.  Wait … I think she has. A story about China and their policy for one child for every couple. I remember how appalled, outraged and furious that made me.

Since you're using the exact words I did, I'm going to take your post as being directed AT me.  I believe the original post was to ask what we thought aout the woman who had 8 babies in addition to her original 6...not "what do you think about the other people in the forum"?

Is it possible for anyone to respond to the original post without offending you?  I suppose the only appropriate response in your eyes might be:

"I'm so happy for her! "

I'm sorry that my honest opinion (that was requested by the moderator) offended you so much.   There is a LOT of grey area between 14 kids in a 2 bedroom house, and China's 1-child policy.  I am insulted by your insinuation that my statements are similar.

Honestly, I'm apalled.  Outraged.  Furious.  Pick one.  As details keep dripping out of the story, I have to say I'm simply UNABLE to come up with ANY possible scenario, under which I'd say "Ohhhh, ok then......" to this woman's decisions!

When you're living WITH your parents and 6 kids under the age of 7, you are STRAPPED by any (sane) person's standards.  STRAPPED.

To me, the whole issue of whether she should have done "selective reduction" or whatever it's called to terminate "some" of the embryos is mute.  The number she SHOULD have carried this pregnancy is "0" because the pregnancy should never have happened.

My heart BREAKS for those children.  They didn't ask for this.
